Programs & Services

Animal Shelter Support:
Animal shelters provide magnificent care in their non-euthanize centers, but they still need assistance.

Our volunteers conduct animal food & supply drives for cat litter, treats, food, bleach, and paper towels to help with daily needs. Our volunteers also participate in shelter-sponsored fundraisers to assist with upgrades, repairs and maintenance for the centers’ buildings.

Christmas is For Everyone:
We believe everyone should experience the magic of Christmas with gifts under their tree.

Because of the high demand for this program, DancingTrees relies on referrals from teachers, case managers, churches, town governments, and state & federal agencies.

We offer necessities, games to promote social interaction and books to encourage family time. Food, cleaning and bathroom supplies are the most requested gifts.

Volunteers shop for necessities, ask local business owners to donate gifts, gather gently used items, and prepare for community members to pick-up.

Environmental Awareness:
In April, to honor Earth Day, we conduct our “Earth Day Challenge”, encouraging community members to “spring clean” their yards, roadways, parks and public areas. Our “Prize Patrol” volunteers drive in search of families and individuals who are making a difference.

Each month, in our newsletter, we bring environmental issues to our readers.

In addition, we adopt traffic islands. Our volunteers convert asphalt into green space with a jackhammer, fertilizer, plants, and water to promote beautification within the community.

Fellow Non-Profits:
DancingTrees assists fellow non-profits of similar vision.

We offer classroom supplies to area Head Start programs, organize food drives for local food pantries, and participate in fundraisers for animal shelters, to list a few.

Also, DancingTrees offers unique meeting spaces to fellow non-profits. Multiple meeting spaces including indoor and outdoor options are available and are comfortably suited for corporate conferences, training sessions, retreats, and informal gatherings. While being inviting and warm, they are also functional and convenient. This private yet easily accessible facility is located near the center of town in Oxford. You provide the agenda and guests. Let us provide you unique meeting spaces and catering options. Don't hesitate; give us a call!

Firewood Project:
It is common for Maine families to heat and cook primarily with wood. Because of the high demand for this program, DancingTrees relies on referrals from teachers, case managers, churches, town governments, and state & federal agencies.

Volunteers gather, cut and split donated wood. If donated wood is not enough to fill requests, firewood is purchased from area loggers and mixed with donated wood. The firewood is divided into piles on “the yard” for our families to pick up.

Having Food:
Often, we are the bridge between an emergent situation and a longer term solution. DancingTress stocks and maintains a food closet with non-perishable items to help our community in critical situations such as out of food, fire victims, homeless, loss of employment or other emergent situations.

Food is donated by volunteers, through food drives, or using donation dollars.

Kids & Learning
With economic hardships and deep budget cuts, both students and schools are finding it difficult to provide everyday classroom supplies.

Preschool: Each Spring and Fall, DancingTrees prepares boxes full of requested classroom and enrichment supplies

K-12: Assisting students by providing school mandated supplies and equipment

Educating All Youth: Providing games and books to promote family time and social interaction

Staying Warm:
It is vital to stay warm during our Maine winters. This program provides shrink film insulation kits for windows, coats, boots, hats, mittens, scarves, and blankets for beds (and sometimes used to insulate windows and doors).

We accumulate warm clothing from donations, second hand stores, using donation dollars, and crocheting/knitting volunteers who ensure each person has a scarf to keep warm.

Volunteers for this program gather items, launder, mend, organize, and shop to keep shelves well stocked.
